Celebrating the Volunteers Who Bring Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial to Life

Once a year, we set aside a day to do something we don't get to do nearly often enough: thank the people who make Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial what it is.

We recently hosted our Volunteer Appreciation Event to recognize the incredible individuals who supported the Memorial throughout the year, and especially during our Memorial Day events. We were honored to present approximately 65 Certificates of Appreciation to our dedicated volunteers as a small token of our gratitude for everything they give to this mission.

More Than a Thank-You

Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial is funded entirely by our local community. That independence, and the ability to remain a sacred, freely accessible space for the public, exists because people choose to give their time here. Our volunteers don't just support the memorial. They are the memorial's daily heartbeat, meeting visitors at the top of the hill, answering questions, and carrying forward stories of service that span every branch and every era.

This year's celebration brought that gratitude full circle. Everyone enjoyed a delicious taco cart, refreshments, and the opportunity to spend time together, celebrating the amazing people who help make Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial such a special place. It was a reminder that this memorial isn't just built from granite and brick. It's built from the people who care for it.

A Legacy Carried Forward Together

Every tour led, every event supported, every visitor welcomed is one more way our volunteers help ensure that the stories etched in stone here continue to inspire and educate future generations. To all 65 volunteers honored this year, and everyone who has given their time to Mt. Soledad before them: thank you. We are truly grateful for your time, commitment, and service.
