This Hispanic Heritage Month, Mt. Soledad honors the deep legacy of Hispanic military service in San Diego, from the border to the battlefield and back home again

Mt. Soledad and the USS Midway Museum honored the 'Warriors 11' on POW/MIA Recognition Day — eleven Naval Aviators held as POWs during the Vietnam War, now etched in stone forever.

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial reflects on the lives lost, the GWOT veterans honored on our walls, and what these 25 years have meant for this mission.

Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial honored Medal of Honor recipient Cpl. Lawrence Eugene Smedley, USMC, with a Veteran Honor Ceremony and Plaque Dedication on August 26, 2026, in partnership with the 1st Marine Division Association.

Mt. Soledad honored 99-year-old WWII veteran Al Hansen with a plaque dedication — a man who has given over 6,300 volunteer hours to preserving veteran history in San Diego.
