More Hands, More Heart: Our Community Continues to Show Up for Our Veterans

July 10, 20264 min read

Behind every polished plaque wall and well-kept path at the Mount Soledad National Veterans Memorial is a community that refuses to let the stories of nearly 10,000 veterans fade. This Memorial doesn't sustain itself — it is sustained by the hands, hearts, and commitment of the people who believe that honoring those who served is never finished work.

This season, we were honored to welcome three extraordinary organizations to our grounds for community outreach events. Their volunteers showed up, rolled up their sleeves, and gave their time to ensure this sacred space remains a place of dignity, reflection, and honor. Here's a look at the community keeping this Memorial strong.

Cox Communications — Preparing the Memorial for Memorial Day

Before the flags were raised this Memorial Day, the team at Cox Communications was already here.

Volunteers from Cox Communications came to the Mount Soledad National Veterans Memorial ahead of Memorial Day weekend to clean the grounds and wipe down the plaque walls — the granite walls that carry the names, faces, and stories of the veterans we honor here. Their work ensured that every family, every visitor, and every veteran who walked these grounds this Memorial Day weekend was greeted by a Memorial worthy of the occasion.

No fanfare. No recognition asked for. Just a team of people who showed up and served — which is exactly the spirit this Memorial was built to celebrate. Thank you, Cox Communications. [Catch the replay here]

ASML — June 26, 2026

ASML is one of the world's leading manufacturers of chip-making equipment — the lithography machines that power the production of microchips found in smartphones, laptops, and nearly every piece of modern technology. On June 26, their team brought that same commitment to precision to something a little different, and just as important.

ASML team cleaning

ASML volunteers spent the day at the Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial cleaning the grounds and wiping down the plaque walls that honor nearly 10,000 veterans. Their care and dedication ensured this sacred space remained a fitting tribute to those who served.

ASML builds the machines that make the modern world possible, they also showed up for the people who made it free. We are deeply grateful for their partnership and their service to our community. [Catch the Replay Here]

AARP San Diego — America250 Day of Service, July 1, 2026

As America marks 250 years of history, the stories etched into the walls of the Mount Soledad National Veterans Memorial are more important than ever. On July 1, 2026, volunteers from AARP San Diego made sure those stories continued to shine.

AARP America 250 Day of Service

As part of their America250 Day of Service, AARP San Diego volunteers came to the Memorial to wipe down our plaque walls, pick up trash, and care for the grounds that carry the legacy of nearly 10,000 veterans. Their hands-on service was a powerful reminder that honoring the past is an active choice — one that communities make together.

To every AARP San Diego volunteer who gave their time, thank you. Your service is now part of this Memorial's story too.

Bring Your Team to the Memorial

The Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial is more than a landmark — it is a living, breathing community commitment. And like any commitment, it requires people who are willing to show up.

We welcome corporate volunteer groups, civic organizations, military units, and community teams to host outreach events at the Memorial year-round. Whether your team wants to clean the grounds, restore the plaque walls, or simply spend a meaningful day in service to the veterans honored here — there is a place for you at Mt. Soledad.

Volunteer events at the Memorial offer your organization:

• A meaningful team experience rooted in purpose and patriotism

• The opportunity to serve alongside one of San Diego's most iconic local landmarks

• Recognition across MSNVM's social media platforms and communications

• A lasting connection to the veterans and families this Memorial honors

Can't Make It in Person? Honor a Veteran With a Commemorative Brick

Not every act of service requires boots on the ground. If you or your organization would like to make a lasting contribution to the Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial, consider honoring a veteran with a Commemorative Honor Brick.

Each brick is a permanent piece of this Memorial — a tangible way to ensure a veteran's story remains etched in the American record for generations to come. It is a gift of honor that lasts forever.

To Cox Communications, ASML, and AARP San Diego: thank you for being part of this Memorial's story. And to every individual, organization, and partner who continues to invest in this place — we honor you for honoring them.
